School Reminders

Mobile Phones Policy @ Schools

All government schools have a mandated policy regarding the use of mobile phones in schools. The policy means phones brought to school must be switched off and stored securely during the school day.

This policy aims to provide:

  • A safe environment to learn without inappropriate mobile phone use (including cyberbullying) or distractions
  • Greater opportunities for social interaction and physical activity during recess and lunchtimes.

The use of technology is essential, but the risks and benefits from its use need to be managed; refer to our summary of research articles.

Preventing 'Gastro' at School

We have had some students in the junior years who have presented to first aid that have been feeling unwell (and have either vomited or felt like fainting.  Pleae reminder that good old-fashioned handwashing with soap and water is still the best defence against spreading bugs. Gastroenteritis is highly contagious, so if you are sick, please stay home for a minimum of 24 hours after your symptoms have stopped. If symptoms persist, visit your GP.
