We have also talked about glitches while we create and we all have them 😊

We discovered that the same sorts of glitches are happening to everyone!

I wonder if these robots will experience any glitches?

📚 Library –Junior School Prep & Level 1

This fortnight in the Library, our students have continued to enjoy exploring stories in an interactive and engaging way. We have been practising our prediction skills by guessing which coloured crayon might appear next in the story and what they might be doing, using clues and what we already know to make our predictions.

We have also been incorporating Auslan into our story sessions, encouraging students to recognise and sign familiar Auslan words as they appear on each page. This is a wonderful way to strengthen their Auslan vocabulary while developing their visual attention, memory and understanding of stories.

It has been lovely to see the children joining in, sharing their predictions and using their growing Auslan skills to bring our stories to life! 📖🖍️🤟

🎶 Performing Arts – Foundation

This fortnight in Performing Arts, our Foundation students have continued learning their graduation song, written especially for them! Inspired by conversations with the Prep teachers about what the children love about school and what is important for their families to hear, a special celebration song was born — and it has a very catchy tune!

The children have also started learning their Christmas Concert songs for both the Foundation performance and the Prep and Year 5 Buddy performance. They have been having lots of fun learning the songs, practising actions and incorporating Auslan signs into their graduation performance.

It has been wonderful to see their confidence, creativity, listening skills and teamwork shine as they practise together. 🌟🥁💃

🎶 Performing Arts – Level 1

Our Level 1 students have been busy practising their Christmas Concert song! They are learning the lyrics, melody and actions, working hard to remember each part and perform together as a group. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm grow as they become more familiar with the song and begin to bring their performance to life.

Through singing, movement and practice, the children are developing their musical skills, rhythm, coordination and confidence. They are also learning the importance of listening carefully, following cues, working together and supporting one another to create a fantastic performance.

We look forward to sharing their Christmas cheer with our school community at the concert! 🎄🎶✨

👐 Auslan

Our Level 3/4 students have been exploring the wonderful world of animals in Auslan! From much-loved pets to fascinating zoo animals and our unique Australian wildlife, the children have been building their animal vocabulary through a variety of fun, interactive games and activities.

The students have enjoyed recognising and signing animal signs, testing their skills with animal charades, and using actions, fingerspelling and signs to help others guess the animal. We have also been incorporating emotions and feelings into our activities, encouraging students to use their facial expressions and body movements to communicate meaning.

These activities provide wonderful opportunities to practise non-manual features (NMFs), including facial expressions and body movements, which are an important part of Auslan grammar. It has been fantastic to see the students developing their signing skills, confidence and visual communication while having so much fun learning together! 🐨🐶🦁

Our Level 5/6 students have been expanding their Auslan vocabulary through our animal-themed learning, exploring signs for pets, zoo animals and Australia's amazing native wildlife. Through a range of engaging games and challenges, students have been strengthening their ability to recognise, recall and communicate animal signs.

Activities have included finding matching partners by signing animals, acting as an animal who is displaying a certain feeling or emotion and using a combination of signing, fingerspelling and imaginative actions to convey different animals for their classmates to identify. We have also been exploring how emotions and feelings can be communicated visually, combining animal signs with expressive facial features and body movements.

As students develop their Auslan skills, we are placing a strong emphasis on non-manual features (NMFs) and how these contribute to meaning and expression. These activities encourage students to think carefully about how they communicate, interpret visual information and interact with others, while building greater fluency, confidence and creativity in Auslan. 🦘🦜🐱
