Year 2 - Newsletter

Dear Parents,
How fast this last term of the year is flying! I can’t believe we are almost at the half way point already.
What are we up to in the classroom?
Mathematics - We have been exploring all things fractions! Students have grown their knowledge of halves, quarters and eighths. We learned about fractions of collections, lengths, shapes, time and more. We also practiced how to represent fractions and discovered fractions of equal value.
Literacy - Students have worked hard on developing a procedural text on ‘How to Sneak a Monster into School’. We enjoyed creating some wonderful little monsters, and then wrote step-by-step instructions on how to sneak them into school for the day. Designing a ‘how to’ guide brought out some entertaining writing.
Inquiry - What fun we have had the past few weeks exploring our unit ‘Stepping into the Digital World’. Over the past few weeks we have learned how to be a safe and responsible digital citizen and used Minecraft Education to represent data and to design using digital technologies.
