Foundation
Our Foundation students had a wonderful day celebrating 100 Days of School!
It was fantastic to see their excitement as they reflected on the many learning experiences, friendships and special moments they have shared during their first 100 days of school.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of fun and engaging activities, including counting to 100 in different ways, completing active counting challenges, creating special 100-day crowns with their buddies and sharing favourite memories.
It was a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their achievements and recognise how much they have grown since their very first day of Foundation.
We are incredibly proud of their confidence, curiosity and enthusiasm for learning!
Level 1
In Literacy, we have been writing information reports about places in our community, such as libraries and police stations. Students have been learning how to organise their writing by using headings, diagrams, and interesting facts to help inform their readers. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they develop their report-writing skills.
In Maths, our focus has been on location. Students have loved using the Bee-Bots to practise giving and following directions, as well as playing games where they moved teddy bear counters around maps and grids. We have also started an exciting new unit on data, where students are learning how to collect information and create and interpret graphs.
In Inquiry, we have been learning what it means to be a Planet Protector and exploring ways we can care for our environment. Students proudly designed and made their own Planet Protector badges and shared ideas about how small actions can make a big difference.
We are also very excited to begin working on our decorated classroom door for the upcoming Book Week competition.
Level 2
Level 2 rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into National Tree Planting Day! 🌱💚
With spades in hand and big smiles, they planted seeds of change, learning about nature while making our school even more amazing.
What a fantastic way to grow a greener future together!
Level 3
As part of National Tree Planting day, students enjoyed contributing to our school environment by planting a special Level 3 tree.
This was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the importance of caring for our environment.
Students have been showcasing their multiplication skills by creating colourful multiplication turkeys. It was such a fun way to strengthen all our learning on multiplication.
In Inquiry, students have been researching the different ships that made the journey to Australia in the First Fleet and learning about the important role each played. Students then applied their new knowledge by carefully drawing using chalk to create awesome art pieces.
Level 4
Level 4 has been busy with a range of exciting learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom. Students had a fantastic time visiting Wheelers Hill Secondary College to watch their energetic production of School of Rock.
The talented cast impressed everyone with their singing, acting and live music performances, creating an entertaining show from start to finish. Students were inspired by the confidence, teamwork and dedication displayed by the performers, making it a wonderful opportunity to support our local secondary school while enjoying the performing arts.
Back at school, students participated in a hands-on Billy Cart STEM Incursion where they worked collaboratively to design, build and test their own vehicles while investigating the forces that make objects move, including friction and gravity. The excitement continued as students raced billy carts and Ezy-Rollers, developing their teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking skills while bringing STEM concepts to life in a fun and engaging way.
In Mathematics, students have been applying their understanding of area and perimeter through creative, real-world learning experiences. They could choose to calculate the area and perimeter of the letters in their name or become zoo architects by designing a new enclosure for Ivan, Stella and Ruby—the rescued animals from our class novel, The One and Only Ivan. Using their measurement skills, students carefully planned enclosures that provided plenty of space while demonstrating their understanding of area and perimeter in a meaningful and engaging way.
Level 5
Last week, our Level 5 students enjoyed an exciting day at Werribee Open Range Zoo as part of their inquiry topic.
Students participated in an engaging talk about animal adaptations and explored the zoo, observing a range of animals living in different simulated habitats.
A highlight of the day was the guided safari bus tour, where students were able to see zebras, rhinos and giraffes roaming together up close. Another favourite moment was watching the baby lions play together and come right up to the glass!
It was a fantastic day of learning, exploration and plenty of memorable animal encounters. They will have learnt lots to help them with their upcoming inquiry project, making “Habitat Movies”.
Level 6
As part of our wellbeing program, students have explored how they can inspire others to choose kindness every day.
They discussed simple ways to show kindness at school and in the community before designing posters to encourage others to be kind.
The posters will be displayed in the classrooms as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference to someone's day.
