2026 Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

Congratulations to our current PRC leaders up to the end of July!

A total of 6,914 books have been read so far and 1,297 book reviews have been published which is AMAZING!!!

There is less than a month to go so please continue to read and upload your books online as the PRC concludes on the 4th September. 

Don’t forget there are many of the PRC books found in our school library for the students to borrow and each book from the challenge is marked with a coloured dot on the spine reminding students that it belongs to the PRC.

Here are a few Book Reviews that some of our students have written to inspire others to read them too.

Matilda T (5W) – CATCHING FIRE: I like this book so much! There’s a lot of action and suspense to enjoy while reading this. At the start of the book when they announced the quarter quell, I was very shocked, but of course this was the perfect beginning for a great story to build up from. The cliff hanger at the end left me hungry to read more, so I started the next book right away. 

Sophia R (4G) – ADVENTURE ISLAND: Mistakes make us learn. At least Ella still tried!

Brodie T (FM) – FELIX AND HIS FANTASTIC FRIENDS: This is an excellent book that teaches about how easy it is to have a practical solution to make sure everybody’s included in the school playground. Excellent story.

Ciara W (FH) – TYRANNOSAURUS DRIP: I liked how it hooted and how the T Rexes fell down!

Our healthy competition between classes across Levels 4 & 5 to determine which class can read the most books by the end of the challenge is still underway. 

Currently, 4B still leads the race but only just ahead of 4C by a margin of 4 books!!! 

In level 5, 5W have a strong lead which will be tricky for the other classes to catch up. We continue to encourage all students to log any books read as part of their weekly homework.

2026 ICAS

August is ICAS month and this week sees the first two ICAS competitions – Digital Technologies and Writing – commence.

Included the timetable for testing to ensure parents are able to remind their children to attend the competitions they are enrolled in.

Please note that year 4, 5 & 6 students may use their own laptops if they are more comfortable doing so, however they MUST have the Janison Replay Lockdown browser installed for the Writing and Spelling Bee competitions and also a set of working headphones for the Spelling competition. 

The school lab computers have this installed.

If your child misses an ICAS competition in which they are enrolled there is an opportunity on the Thursday of each week to catch up on the missed competition OF THAT WEEK. The subjects close and students have no access after the week of the competition.
