Athletics Carnival 

The Brigidine Athletics Carnival was yet another fantastic day with such a positive atmosphere. Student participation was recorded at its highest ever and it was lovely to see the girls join in on all the events, especially the 1500m walk, which has become quite a tradition in the school. The students also wore some fabulous costumes that aligned with the theme of ‘Go far, Superstar’.

 

Congratulations to all the students who competed in the events and especially to our Age Champions and winning Houses.

CCC (Combined Catholic Colleges) Championships

SCS Touch:

Congratulations to the students who represented SCS Touch in the CCC Touch Tournament. Both the 15s and Open Teams narrowly lost in the final. A big congratulations to Charli M who has been chosen for the 15s CCC Touch Team.

Metro AFL:

Harper D, Charlie H and Sophia L represented Metro Sydney in AFL at the CCC AFL selections in Wagga Wagga on May 4th & 5th. 

 

The girls played three games over the two days against Southern NSW, Northern NSW and Riverina. A massive congratulations to Charlie H who has been selected for the CCC AFL team. Charlie will now represent CCC in the All Schools pathways on June 1st & 2nd in Albury.

All Schools Swimming:

Congratulations to the Brigidine All Age relay who won the 6 x 50m Freestyle Relay at CCC. Charlee A, Bonnie B, Amelia D, Genevieve D, Julianna D and Isabella G, have all progressed to the NSW All Schools. We are so proud of them and wish them the best of luck!

 

Surf Life Saving 

A massive congratulations to our incredible students who traveled to North Kirra Beach, QLD, to compete in the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships! Representing both South Maroubra and Coogee SLSCs, our girls showed incredible strength, skill and sportsmanship against the best in the country.

 

Podium Finishes & Top Results:

Harper D: 1st Place for U14 Relay & 9th for Individual Sprints

Sophia L: 2nd Place in the U13 girls Beach Relay & 2nd Place in the U13 Cameron Relay

Makayla K: 2nd Place for Cameron Relay

Charlee A: 3rd Place for Surf Teams & 10th in the Individual 2km Ocean Swim

 

Well done to all our competitors: Amelia B, Sofia H, Nessa L, Niamh L, Ruby M,  Zoe M, Tara R & Amelie T. We are so proud of your dedication to the surf lifesaving movement.

Club State Championships 

A further congratulations to Charlee A, Genevieve D, Julianna D and Bella G, who represented Randwick City Swim Club at the prestigious Australian Age Swimming Championships over the holidays.

 

Competing against the nation's best, the girls delivered spectacular performances on the big stage. Isabella has qualified for 10 events at Nationals & Genevieve has qualified for 3. 

 

Along with the individual events, Charlee A, Julianna D and Isabella G, raced in the club relay teams. Both age group teams moved up the national rankings. The Junior Freestyle Relay consisting of Charlee and Isabella came 27th in Australia & Julianna's 15 - 16 Years Freestyle and Medley Relay came 35th in Australia.

 

Sydney Easts Oztag Tournament 

The Junior, Intermediate and Senior A Oztag Teams competed in the Sydney Easts School Oztag Tournament on Thursday 7th May. The girls had a fantastic day out with admirable success!

The Senior A Oztag Team won their pool and progressed to play Kingsgrove North High School in the semi-final. They won their semi-final and progressed to the final against GOAL College. The girls were narrowly defeated 3 - 2 in the final.

The Intermediate Team placed second in their pool and progressed to the semi-final against Kingsgrove North High School. The girls won their semi-final and progressed to the final, where unfortunately they lost to a very strong Corpus Christi team.

 

The Junior Team placed 2nd in their pool and progressed to the semi-finals against Westfields Sports High School where they unfortunately lost.

 

Sydney Championships Touch 

The Senior Touch Team represented Conference 1 in the Sydney Championships. The girls played an exciting semi-final where each try was backed by a try from the opposition, Marist Sisters Woolwich. In the final minute the girls scored two tries to claim their victory. 

 

Unfortunately the girls lost the final against a very strong Bethany College, Hurstville. 

We are very proud of the Senior Team for placing second in all SCS schools!
