"Curriculum should help children make deeper and fuller understanding of their own experience."

—  Lilian Katz

As we commence Term 2, I would like to thank all parents and carers who provided feedback through our reporting survey last year. Your insights have been invaluable in helping us review and refine our current reporting practices to better support student learning and communication between home and school.

Following the work of our Reports Committee last year - which included a comprehensive review of our existing systems and consideration of parent feedback - we are implementing several updates to student reports for Years 7–11. These changes are designed to streamline reporting, provide greater clarity for families, and strengthen our focus on student growth and engagement. Please note that these changes apply only to Years 7–11 in 2026 (and will be phased into Year 12 from 2027).

The most significant update relates to how we assess and communicate student engagement in learning:

  • Commitment to Learning: The previous Approaches and Application to Learning section has now been replaced with a new category titled Commitment to Learning. This updated section has been simplified, and now focuses on five key outcomes that more clearly reflect the habits and behaviours that support successful learning. We believe this change will provide students and families with more meaningful and consistent feedback across all subjects.
  • GPA and Semester Awards: The Grade Point Average (GPA) will continue to appear on student reports; however, it will no longer be used in the calculation of semester awards. This adjustment allows awards to more accurately recognise student achievement and commitment within individual subject areas.
  • Pastoral Information and Attendance: In the pastoral section of the report, families will now also see attendance information for key compulsory school events and days, including occasions such as the Athletics Carnival and Feast Days. These additions recognise the importance of student participation in the broader life of the College and our shared community experiences.

As always, we remain committed to continually improving our practices to best support student learning and wellbeing. We thank families for their ongoing partnership and support; and look forward to another productive and successful term ahead.
