Supporting Jesuit Social Services – A Macarthur House Initiative
Thank you to all the families who generously supported the Macarthur House initiative by donating non-perishable and household items. These contributions will be donated to Jesuit Social Services (JSS), a Catholic social change organisation that works alongside individuals and communities experiencing significant disadvantage, including those affected by poverty, homelessness, addiction, and the criminal justice system. The donated goods will be distributed through JSS’s Ignite Store, which not only provides affordable, quality items to those in need but also offers dignity, choice, and practical support.
As a Catholic school, our mission calls us to stand in solidarity with the poor and vulnerable, putting our faith into action. This initiative allowed our students to live out Catholic Social Teaching, particularly the call to preferential care for the poor. In the words of Matthew 25:40, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
This simple but powerful act of generosity has helped our students and their families reflect on the importance of compassion, justice, and community.
A huge thank you to our Macarthur House Leaders for organising and running this initiative with such care and dedication.
MacKillop House Hot - Chocolate Drive – Supporting Mary MacKillop Today
Warm thanks to everyone who supported MacKillop House’s Hot-Chocolate Drive in support of Mary MacKillop Today! Every cup sold helps fund vital programs that carry on the mission of Australia’s first saint, supporting education, health, and livelihood projects for vulnerable communities both in Australia and overseas.
In the spirit of Saint Mary MacKillop, whose words continue to guide us: “Never see a need without doing something about it.”
This simple act of selling and sharing hot chocolates gave our students the chance to live out this message — to notice the needs of others and respond with kindness, generosity, and action. For our young women, it's a reminder that faith isn't just about prayer and belief, but about courageously stepping up, serving others, and making a real difference in everyday ways.
A heartfelt thank you to our MacKillop House Leaders for leading this initiative with joy and purpose, the Year 12 Hospitality students who assisted in the making of the hot chocolates and to every student, staff member, and family who contributed. Together, you've warmed hearts and lived out the mission of Mary MacKillop in a tangible way.
