Year 7 Feature

Year 7 students engaged in one of the important days in the College, the Year 7 Formation Day reflecting on their journey at Caroline Chisholm College. Students explored themes such as positive changes made in their lives, reflecting on the negative things that weigh them down to leave behind, exploring the special gifts and talents that God has given and considering ways to use these in their lives. As part of their Formation Day, students engaged in team building games and focussed on their talents and came up with ways in which they can use them in their lives.
Students developed their religious dimension celebrating their first semester at Caroline Chisholm College, appreciating the gifts and talents they possess, engaging in activities showing hospitality, respect and manners. To enrich their reflection on their journey, Year 7 students engaged in a guided reflection recalling the GIFT or talent that God gave them and recorded this in the centre of a gift on a postcard. This meditative experience invited them into a deeper, more personal connection with God, guided by sacred text and creative expression completing a gift card focussing on their talents.
Students took some time to think about how they will develop, protect and share this talent with others. Reflection time was provided to write down some ideas in the back of the card. As a sign of our commitment to develop our God given gifts students were invited to present their talent as part of our liturgy this afternoon. During the closing liturgy students brought forward their gift cards and work and put forward the gift postcard of the talent they are going to develop with the help of their parents, staff and their year 7 peer and place it in the sacred space.
Year 7 students have embraced their Chisholm journey in Semester 1 with great attendance and engagement in school activities. Students participated in the “Mother’s Day liturgy taking time to recognise and celebrate the special, nurturing role that mothers and mother figures play in our lives.
Year 7 enjoyed a fantastic performance of Japanese drumming. Some students were selected to perform with Graham & Akiko from Yuni On.
Students have contributed to several college social justice initiatives such as Warm Up with a Cup, for the Mary MacKillop Today Foundation.
Year 7 Student leaders were chosen after the process of nominations and interviews. The chosen Leaders are now part of the Student Representative Council at the College working with the Senior Leaders to support the College initiatives.

Year 7 have embraced their diverse cultures coming dressed in cultural dress, ready for a fantastic multicultural day. On Friday, 6 June our Year 7 students celebrated Multicultural Day, a vibrant event that embraces the richness of our diverse community. It was a day to recognise, appreciate, and honour the many cultures that make up our school and society. Students were encouraged to dress in their traditional cultural attire, wear something orange (a colour that symbolises harmony and mutual respect), or bring an item that represents their cultural heritage. Whether it’s through clothing, accessories, or shared stories, this is a special opportunity to showcase identity and promote unity in diversity.
Year 7 students have excelled in all aspects of their school life continuing to build connectedness and inclusivity in Semester 1.
In addition to their spiritual and creative achievements, Year 7 students have proudly represented the college in a range of sporting competitions this year, showcasing talent, teamwork, and dedication. Their achievements reflect the college’s commitment to holistic education - nurturing not just academic and spiritual growth, but also physical excellence and team spirit.
