Formation Days in Action: A Day of Encounter, Growth, and Grace
On Tuesday 3 June, students across Years 7 to 12 participated in their annual Formation Days - a cherished time in our College calendar dedicated to deepening faith, building community, and nurturing the whole person. These days provided a powerful opportunity for students to encounter Jesus through Scripture, prayer, reflection, and connection with one another.
Each year level engaged with a unique, age-appropriate theme designed to invite students into a deeper understanding of who God is and how they are called to live out the Gospel in their daily lives. Whether held on campus or off-site, every Formation Day was crafted to support students in recognising God’s presence in their lives and the lives of others. These sacred experiences served as a reminder that our faith is not simply taught but encountered—through stories, silence, service, prayer and Scripture.
Here’s a glimpse into the themes explored by each year level:
Year 12 – Shine Your Light
Year 12 students reflected on Matthew 5:13–16 and the call to be a light and salt in the world. As they near the end of their school journey, they considered how to share their God-given gifts with courage and faith, bringing the light of Christ into all they do.
Year 11 – The Joyful Way: A Path to Peace
With joy as a Fruit of the Holy Spirit, Year 11 students explored the connection between joy, peace, and faith. Through Scripture and personal reflection, students discovered how joy grounded in Christ can bring inner peace and transform the lives of others.
Year 10 – In Their Shoes
Year 10 students walked a path of empathy and compassion, considering the lived experiences of others, especially the marginalised. Through storytelling, reflection, and justice-focused activities, students were challenged to see the world from a different perspective and to respond with Christ-like compassion.
Year 9 – Being Stewards: Caring for our Common Home
Inspired by Genesis and Laudato Si’, Year 9 focused on environmental stewardship and the moral responsibility we share to care for creation. The day encouraged students to see themselves as co-creators with God, called to protect and nurture the earth and all who inhabit it.
Year 8 – Love is Patient and Kind
Drawing from 1 Corinthians 13, Year 8 students unpacked what it means to live a life of love modelled on Christ. Activities helped students reflect how patience, kindness, and humility are central to Christian living and shape their relationships and personal growth.
Year 7 – Our Journey
As they continue their transition into secondary school, Year 7 students reflected on their faith journey so far. Rooted in stories from Scripture about trust and guidance, they explored how God walks with them through every step of life’s journey.
We are grateful to the staff who led and facilitated these meaningful experiences, and to the students who participated with openness and sincerity. As always, we encourage families to continue the conversation at home—ask your daughter what she discovered, what Scripture spoke to her, and how she encountered Jesus in a new way. These are moments of faith that flourish when shared.
