Jeans for Genes

On Wednesday 19 August, our school community will be supporting Jeans for Genes Day, an important national fundraiser that helps scientists at the Children's Medical Research Institute find treatments and cures for children's genetic diseases.

Students are encouraged to wear their favourite denim, bring a gold coin donation, and support the cause by purchasing delicious treats from our Bake Sale. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps fund life-changing medical research and gives hope to children and families affected by genetic conditions.

Why does this matter? According to the Children's Medical Research Institute, 1 in 20 children is born with a birth defect or genetic disease, including conditions such as cystic fibrosis, childhood cancers, and metabolic disorders. That's the equivalent of at least one child in almost every classroom.

Researchers are currently working on innovative treatments, including gene therapies that have the potential to cure diseases previously thought incurable.

Jeans for Genes has been supporting this vital research for more than 30 years, helping fund breakthroughs that improve and save children's lives. The campaign raises awareness that many genetic conditions still have no effective treatment, making ongoing research more important than ever.

We invite all students and staff to get involved by wearing denim, making a donation, and enjoying some homemade goodies at the Bake Sale. Together, we can make a difference and help create a healthier future for children living with genetic diseases.

Wear your jeans. Bring a gold coin. Buy a treat. Help change a child's future.
