Library Chronicles – Term 3, 2025.

We have been enjoying the new CBCA Book of the Year titles in the library this term. The Children’s Book Council Book Award winners were announced this week, and we have all the Older Readers section title winners here and ready for you to read!

Our Book Week celebration at KHS is now scheduled for Week 8 of this term – 8th to 12th September. We will host activities in the library during breaks throughout Week 8. Details of daily activities will be found on KHS Facebook and on Sentral closer to that time.

We have a revised activity schedule in the library in response to student feedback – see below for essential information on changes including Tuesday Book Club (silent reading during the lunch break), projects on Wednesdays and Pride Club every Friday A Week. All the favourites such as Lego Masters, Games and Maker Monday will continue as usual. 

Our current Maker Monday focus is on the upcoming Father’s Day celebration and we are having fun creating beautiful personal gifts. 

The Book Review lucky dip is running again this term, many thanks for everyone who has already submitted a review – well done! Reviews will be reviewed and returned for corrections before students can take a turn at the lucky dip this year.

Our library cadets are learning the library system. This includes the Oliver library management system and all aspects of library organisation and operation. Both cadets are doing splendid work and gaining valuable experience. Well done and thank you Ebony and Saxon!

Remember, if there is a book you would love to read, come, and see if we have it or can order it. If you have suggestions to make the space better in any way, please let us know, it is your library!

Wear it Purple Day is coming up – 29th August – be sure to get all your purple gear ready to go!

Come up and check out our new genre sections, displays of new books and themed displays that relate to your subject learning. We look forward to seeing you!

We are open before school every day, and all recess and lunch breaks except Wednesday lunch and Friday recess. 

Join us for a healthy breakfast Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at Breakfast Library on the landing outside the library from 8.20- 8.50am. 

ALNC kindly provide two book titles per term for our students to take home and create their own home library.
