Week 1, Term 4 Greetings!

Welcome back to Term 4! I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and refreshing break over the past two weeks. It has been lovely to return to school with the sun shining and noticeably longer days thanks to daylight savings—signalling the beginning of a much-anticipated warmer season. The change in weather has brought an extra buzz of energy around the school, and it’s wonderful to see students returning with such enthusiasm and positivity. It’s been a strong and positive start to the term, and I look forward to seeing all that our students will achieve over the coming weeks.　４学期がスタートしました！ゆっくりとした２週間の春休みを過ごすことができましたでしょうか。４学期のスタートとともに、夏時間もスタートし、暖かな陽気の日も少しずつ増えてまいりました。そんな中学校に戻ってきた生徒たちは初日から落ち着いた様子で、元気に最初の１週間を過ごすことができました。今学期も生徒たちと一緒に様々なイベントに臨むことを楽しみにしております。

A timely reminder to all families that parent requests for class placements in 2026 are due by Friday 17 October. These requests are an opportunity for parents to share specific information they believe will support their child’s learning and wellbeing. Please note that requests submitted after this date will not be considered, so we encourage families to ensure they are submitted on time to support planning and preparation for the year ahead.

先学期に校長からスクールストリームやニュースレターを通して連絡させていただいた通り、来年のクラス編成に関する保護者の方々のリクエストの提出期限は来週１０月１７日金曜日が締め切りとなりますので、ご注意ください。期限を過ぎてから提出されたリクエストに関してはクラス編成の際に考慮致しかねますので予めご了承ください。

This week, I had the pleasure of visiting a Prep and a Year 1/2 classroom, both deeply engaged in phonics learning. In the Prep classroom, students had just written a sentence about how they can demonstrate the school value of Excellence in Term 4. Their responses reflected thoughtful insight and a genuine commitment to doing their best. Following this, the class transitioned into a phonics session where they practised decoding and blending simple words. In the Year 1/2 classroom, the focus was on exploring the 'er' sound and identifying the different graphemes used to represent it. The students were highly engaged, using their phonemic knowledge to sort and read words with confidence and curiosity.　今週のプレップと１・２年生の教室では、初日からフォニックスの授業に落ち着いた様子で生徒たちが取り組んでいました。プレップのクラスでは、この授業の前に校訓の一つである「優秀さ」を示すための目標を文章で書いた後にフォニックスの授業に取り組んでいました。１・２年生のクラスでは、erの音を表す様々なアルファベットの組み合わせについて勉強していました。
