Science 7-12

A term in the Science Classroom
Science Learning Area had many activities and different content to learn and complete this term across Year 7-12.
The Year 12 students have been busy completing their assessments for Unit 3. Many areas have been doing the student led practical’s, investigating their chosen area related to the content.
Year 11 students have completed Unit 1 and many have had different activities to enhance their learning. The Chemistry students looked at how different chemicals change the rate of corrosion in nails.
Year 10 Psychology had the opportunity to look at Careers, Ethics, Intelligence and Memory as part of their course.
Year 10 Physics had the opportunity to discover motion and create Egg Cars that protect the eggs in crashes. An application of the knowledge that they have learnt across the Term.
Year 9 Science has looked at Biology this term and has learnt about Control and Regulation of the body looking in particular at receptors and stimulus responses in the nervous and endocrine systems. They then moved into the positive and negative world of Pathogens creating Brochures and animations.
Year 9 Forensic Science looked at evidence left at crime scenes and how the evidence can tell a story. For their big project they created Crime Scenes and showed evidence left behind.
Year 8 Science has looked at Dynamic Earth this term and learnt about the three different types of rocks.
They discovered Volcanos, Tsunamis, tectonic plates and applied the knowledge to many different situations.
The Year 7 students have been doing Chemistry and had the opportunity for their big project to change dirty water into clean water using different methods that they have learnt over the term. Some of the groups were successful while others did not achieve clean, clear water.
