Community Recycling Project
We are delighted to share that the WHSC Community Recycling Project has been a termendous success. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our school community, we collected an amazing 60 boxes and bags of donations for our charity partner, Red Nose Australia—a leading national organisation dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children, while providing vital support to families affected by pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or the death of a child.
On behalf of our Year 12 Vocational Major students, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to every staff member who took the time to declutter, donate and support this initiative. Your generosity has not only helped reduce waste but has also made a meaningful difference to families in need.
As we continue to journey with our VM students in their various projects, we hope you will continue to join us in making a positive impact together.

Student Leadership
We began the term with the Executive Team organizing and running the Whole School Assembly. At this assembly we reflected on Anzac Day and its importance, looked at the House Points and finished with a school Band – called “Little Men”.
The next event was run by the Cultural Team and the Home Group Leaders where the students were asked to wear blue and donate money towards Do It For Dolly Day. This day was to allow students to think about Kindness and how Bullying affects many people. Money Raised from this day was $370.00.
One of our student Leaders Jacinta Vathanavong has taken on an extra Leadership role as the Marrung Leader (Indigenous) and has offered to support this area of the community. As part of Reconciliation week, Jacinta ran a lunch-time where students drew designs on paper leaves and this will be put together as a display.
This year the Learning Student Leaders talked about the importance of choosing electives for the following year and felt that there was not enough information, especially subjects in Year 9. Our Learning Leaders then embarked on an Elective Subject Expo. The students communicated with the Staff Learning Leader of the subjects and discussed and put together a station that showed work that was created by students of that subject. The Learning Leaders set up the stations and student representatives of the subject spoke to the Year 8’s who asked questions about the subjects for subject choices next year.
The School Community has also been provided with cheese toasties in the morning on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of Breakfast Club. One of our Student Leaders has offered his time to help out. Thank you Milan Stevanovic. Milan Stevanovic has also volunteered to be the Arts Leader and will be helping the Arts area next term.
Our three Executive Leaders, Thomas, Charlotte and Nicholas went on a Leadership Event with other students leaders from other schools. Discussion about ideas or activities and events to help the school community were held.
Middle School Leaders had the opportunity to host their first Middle School Assembly. They worked very well with teachers and organized the program.
The House Leaders and other students from the school community have been busy volunteering to help out with coaching of the sports teams. All teachers are very grateful for the students and their expertise.
While these events are going, all student leadership teams have a meeting approximately every three weeks, which allows time for discussion about how they can improve the school community. A fantastic and busy Term 2 for our Student Leaders and other student from the school community in helping with the different activities.
