Year 12 Senior Visual Art

Students had their final exhibition – ArtSkape – in the Tula Gallery last month with the exhibition closing this week. Congratulations to four of our Senior art students whose artworks have been selected for the Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art this year: Seren Coyle – From the dining room table; Talulah Gooden - Apple of my eye; Freya Mathieson - The dame of divinity;  and Charlie Elton - I Can’t Smell the Difference. Best wishes to our students for the final judging at the Metropolitan regional exhibition at Superordinary, Hamilton in mid-October. 

Introductory Cyanotype workshop 

Saturday, October 24 at TGSHS. Dr Renata Buziak will be presenting her introductory Cyanotype workshop next month - if interested please see attached details. Renata is a biochrome photo-media artist, researcher, and educator with over 15 years of teaching experience. She helps people to reconnect with nature, and her art has been exhibited nationally and internationally. 

Visual Art Studio class 

On Friday's afterschool our class has been working on their artist books with our artist-in-residence, Dr Karike Ashworth, who has introduced students to eco dyeing papers and capturing memories of place, for their book pages. They are experimenting with hand stitching and drawing and collaging into their hand made books of various shapes and sizes.  Display of student work will be in the Tula Gallery on Friday 11 September 4 pm.

Enrolments are now open for Visual Art Studio Term 4 with our artist in residence Nancy Brown, 

Textiles and T-shirts – upcycling and altering. Nancy is a visual artist working in printmaking, ceramic, mosaic, metal and textile printing.  

Students will explore a variety of ways of printing on textiles - screen printing, creating repeat designs with hand carved stamps, hand painting techniques, printing from found objects and printing from leaves, plant and bark on calico. By the course completion, students will have made professional quality screenprints on a range of surfaces. Enrolments are open for any interested student, see details attached.
