The LTC features 25 challenge activities, including high ropes courses, indoor rock climbing, bouldering walls, high leaps, abseiling decks, a vertical playpen and an internal caving system. While these activities are undeniably exciting, the real value of the LTC lies in the personal growth they inspire.
Through our philosophy of "Challenge by Choice", students are encouraged to identify challenges that suit their individual comfort zones and to gradually extend themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Guided by nationally accredited outdoor recreation leaders, students learn to set goals, problem-solve, persevere through setbacks and celebrate their achievements.
The LTC is also a wonderful example of our school values in action. Students are encouraged to Think Big as they embrace new experiences and set ambitious goals. They Step Up when they face challenges that require courage and determination. They demonstrate Being Kind throughthrough encouragement, teamwork and support for their peers. They learn the importance of Paying It Forward by celebrating the success of others and contributing to a positive and inclusive culture where everyone can thrive.
Each year, students participate in a Challenge Unit through their APP lessons, with carefully planned experiences that build on previous learning and help students continue to develop leadership, resilience and self-belief.
Facilities like the LTC are rare, and we are incredibly fortunate to have such an outstanding resource available to our students. Every day, we see young people discover strengths they didn't know they had, overcome fears, support one another and develop skills that will serve them well beyond their school years.
I encourage all families to take an interest in their child's LTC experiences. Ask them about the challenge they tackled, the goal they achieved, or the way they supported a friend. These conversations help reinforce the valuable lessons learned within the LTC and celebrate the growth that comes from stepping outside our comfort zones.
Together, we can continue to encourage our students to Think Big, Step Up, Be Kind and Pay It Forward as they make the most of the remarkable opportunities our Leadership Training Centre provides.
