Writers' Festival and Book Week
Another busy week of celebration and learning at school! At our Monday assembly last week, we officially launched the commencement of our Writers' Festival culminating in the cutting of a huge red ribbon. A few of our students shared their pieces of writing with the whole school at the assembly. Parents were then invited to go and view the writing in the corridor of the main building with their child/children. The student writing displays look fabulous. The overarching theme this year was ‘One World, One Goal – The Power of Sport’.
Students in Foundation wrote poems, students in Year 1, 3 & 4 presented Information Reports, Year 2 students wrote Persuasive Texts about why ‘All Children Should Play Sport’, and the Year 5 & 6 students prepared Sports / Newspaper reports.
Over the week, students took part in Author visits, Lunch time Book Week Clubs and special class / library activities. A dress up parade ended the week. Students and staff came dressed dressed for the occasion in a myriad of different costumes, all looking spectacular.
A big thank you to John Scollo and the English Team for their organisation of all events.

Thank you to our Business Manager, Annette Jurisch, and the School Council members, Maria Dellios, Sandy Grapsas and Kemp Dynon for the organisation of the Fathers’ Day stall, and the purchase of such a fabulous selection of gifts.
Thank you also to the parent helpers who assisted our students with their purchases from our Fathers’ Day stall. Wishing every father a happy day!

Morning Drop off........'Kiss and Drop'
Just a reminder that there are 4 designated car areas (P2 minute zones) for dropping off your child/children in the morning between 8-9am. There are two on Bradford Avenue and two on Langton Way. The signs look like this:
These areas are NOT FOR PARKING during these times. They are a ‘Kiss & Drop’ zones. These areas work effectively if parents do exactly that – pull up, kiss their child/children, children get out of the car, parent drives off and vacates the space so that the next car can do the same. Parents must NOT park and leave their car in these zones in the morning before 9am. Parking officers from Hume City Council frequently drive around our school. However, more importantly our school values of Respect and Responsibility. Respect for other families within the school community and allowing them access to also drop off their children in the ‘Kiss and Drop’ zones and Responsibility to follow parking instructions as signed.
Staff Car Park
Parking around any school during school drop off or pick up times is always challenging for any parent. Fortunately, as I mentioned above, we have four Kiss and Drop zones in Bradford Avenue and Langton Way to alleviate these busy times. Commonsense and consideration are always important factors to make this time better for all.
However, please be mindful that our staff car park is not available for parents to enter for student drop off or pick up. At times, there are not even enough spaces to cater for all of our staff!
You are not permitted to use the staff car park unless you have a short term Parent Parking Permit usually given for medical circumstances verified by a doctor. This might include the following circumstances:
- You have a disability where you cannot walk and your child is in Foundation and does not have a sibling to pick them up and walk with them to your designated pick-up spot.
Your child is not able to walk into the school ground themselves eg. broken leg.
