Welcome to Week 3 of Term 3. Today sees us through one-third of the term already, with lots to look forward to across the next six weeks.
Our school has again signed up to participate in the 2XU Wellness Run. We instigated this initiative in 2023 after the sad loss of one of our parents, Gary Baum. As we approach the second anniversary of Gary’s passing, it is an important time to highlight the positive impact physical activity can have on our mental and physical health, and thus again we encourage as many of you as possible to participate in this event (we already have a big staff list registered!).
All funds raised for this event go towards sponsoring Beyond Blue, an organisation that provides a free online and telephone helpline to support people who might be going through a hard time, have mental health concerns, or are worried about someone else who does.
You can choose to run 5km, 10km or a half-marathon (21.1km), or the under 12 1km dash for our students. The event starts and finishes at Catani Gardens (half marathon start at Albert Park), running a picturesque loop along Beach Road.
There is plenty of time to train, with the event to be held on Sunday 30th November. We look forward to you joining the CSPS team (registration link here)!
Yesterday we had the privilege of officially opening our new senior playground to the school community. Funds for this project were raised by our students and families, alongside our event sponsors Gary Peer Real Estate, Bendigo Bank, Kush Diamonds and Standout Projects. Support too was provided by Woolworths Metro Caulfield South, who continue to support our events with refreshments on the day. Our parent leaders were also critical to the success of this project, with particular thanks to our event lead for the colour run, Melinda Reid, our 2024 Parents’ Association President, Jess Tuszynski and our School Council President, Jackie Dzienciol, who led the way in engaging our sponsors.
Tomorrow night our families will head back to the 90’s and tackle some trivia at our major parent fundraiser for the year. With a huge thanks to Steph Esakoff and her team of volunteers, we will have a packed house for the event, with all funds raised going towards the restoration of classrooms in the traditional building.
Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
Rohan.
