Introducing Abi our new OT
Hello! My name is Abi and I’m very excited to be joining the Caulfield South Primary School community as the new Occupational Therapist. My role is to support students in developing the skills they need to participate fully in their school day, this includes things like fine motor skills (such as handwriting and using scissors), sensory regulation, attention and focus, self-care tasks, and more.
I work closely with teachers, parents, and other support staff to help create an environment where every child can thrive. Whether through individual sessions, small group work, or classroom strategies, my goal is to help students feel confident and capable in their learning journey.
I’m looking forward to getting to know the students and working together to support their growth and success!
The Colour Monster - Prep
As part of our Unit of Inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme How we express ourselves, students explored the central idea that“Personal feelings and emotions can be expressed
in different ways.”
Through the beloved text The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas, students engaged in a creative learning experience where they designed their own unique colour monster to represent a specific emotion.
Using line, shape and colour intentionally, students gave visual form to their chosen emotion and were encouraged to reflect on how their monster was feeling and why.
This activity supported our Lines of Inquiry by helping students recognise that emotions are personal and can be expressed in creative ways. It also deepened their understanding of how visual elements in art can communicate mood and feelings.
The process allowed students to make connections between their own experiences and the expressive potential of art.

Managing Meltdowns Incursion - Year 6
At the Managing Meltdowns Incursion we learnt about how our bodies can be controlled when we want to have meltdowns. We learnt calming strategies to help us focus and cool down during a meltdown. The strategies that we learnt were 5 senses, flower candle breathing, happy place, movement and body scan.
“It was really good and they helped us describe how much we value our selves” - Milla 6A
“ It was fun” Leni 6A
“It was really good learning how to manage our meltdowns” Cara 6B
“ I thought that this incursion would help people on the oval during recess and lunch” Amelia B 6B
