From Big Things Little Things Grow! 🌱

As part of our Biological Sciences unit: Living Things, our Foundation students have become busy little scientists!  We have been learning about living things and discovering what plants need to grow and survive.

The students have been very busy creating their own mini greenhouses and “planting” their seeds in plastic bags with paper towel. Can you believe it? Not soil... paper towel! Before watching them grow, our little scientists made predictions about what they thought their plants might look like.

We then began our exciting plant journey! Each week, the students have been using their scientist eyes to look closely at their plants, excitedly observing and recording all the changes in their plant journals. We have watched tiny sprouts pop out of the seeds and have been amazed to see how much they have changed!

Fun fact! Did you know that plants use sunlight to make their own food so they can stay healthy? Even more amazingly, plants are very clever — they actually bend towards the sun to find the light they need! This special bending movement is called phototropism. 

Our classroom windows are now filled with our growing mini greenhouses, so make sure you stop by and check out our plants’ progress! We can't wait to see how much more they grow as we continue our exciting journey as scientists! 🌿🔍
