Positive Behaviour for Learning

At St John Vianney’s Primary School, caring for our school environment provides our students with valuable opportunities to develop responsibility, patience and mindfulness. Whether it is looking after our gardens, keeping classrooms tidy, caring for shared spaces or taking pride in our school grounds, these everyday actions help children understand that they are part of a community and that their choices can make a positive difference. Through these experiences, students learn to be responsible, reliable and respectful of the spaces they share with others.

Caring for our environment also helps our SJV students develop important personal qualities such as empathy, perseverance and pride. Gardening and caring for plants teaches patience as children see that growth takes time, while working together encourages cooperation and consideration for others. Taking pride in a clean, welcoming and beautiful school environment can also create a sense of belonging and wellbeing. These simple experiences help our students understand that caring for our school is not just about looking after a place—it is about becoming caring, capable and responsible members of our SJV community.
