Dear Families,

Book Week is next week. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the magic and joy that books bring to our lives.

One of my favourite books as a child was The Magic Faraway Tree — I loved the sense of adventure, curiosity and wonder it created.

This week, I encourage families to share their favourite childhood books with their children and enjoy the simple joy of reading together. Books open our minds to new worlds, spark curiosity and excitement, and help us imagine, wonder and dream. So, pick up a book, snuggle up together and enjoy the magic of reading! Don't get too stressed getting those costumes ready for next week.

We hope you will join us for the parade on Wednesday at 2.30pm.

Principal Appointment

The Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) advertising for a new Principal has begun. The Principal Appointment Panel will work through a MACS specially designed selection process to provide advice for the MACS Regional General Manager as to who is the best applicant to lead your school into the future.

The panel consists of:

● Parish Priest – Father David Francis OMI

● School Advisory Council Chair- Maria Smith

● An experienced, current Primary Principal – Paul Dwyer, St. Joachim’s school Carrum Downs

● MACS Executive Director&

Nominee (EDN) Senior Manager School Leadership - Jennifer Hawkins

Our school staff and School Advisory members met with the EDN to provide their insights into the knowledge, skills and expertise of a new principal. It is a highly confidential and thorough process that will see a new principal being appointed to our school for 2027. It is not uncommon that the position is re-advertised eg. not enough applicants applied or applicants didn’t meet the specific requirements as per the process guidelines. The Principal Appointment Panel will work its way through the various steps of the process. We pray for the panel in all their deliberations and may the Holy Spirit guide their discernment and enrich their discussions. We do ask that you and your family pray for the panel and for the right applicants to apply.

St John Vianney, pray for us.

The Family Maths Afternoon

A huge thank you to all our families who stayed with us for our Maths Afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many families getting involved, having fun and working together to solve mathematical challenges.

Throughout the afternoon, students and families explored problem solving, data, geometry and geometric shapes, as well as some exciting technology activities. We also enjoyed a fun raffle, adding to the excitement of the afternoon!

A special thank you to our wonderful staff for giving their time and staying back to make the afternoon such a success. We would also like to thank Mrs May for helping create such a positive and engaging afternoon of mathematics.

It was fantastic to see our students demonstrating persistence, curiosity and a growth mindset as they tackled challenges, tried different strategies and discovered that mistakes are an important part of learning. What a wonderful celebration of the joy of mathematics and learning together as a community!
