PRESS RELEASE

Brighton Secondary College student wins top honours

Brighton Secondary College student Matthew Ward received top honours this week for his outstanding VCE results in 2023.

Matt received a Premier’s VCE Award for excellence in Product Design & Technology, making him one of the top Product Design & Technology students in the state, an achievement that Matt acknowledged with humility.

“I was very happy to accept the Premier’s Award this week and have the support of my teachers Mr Karailis and Ms Whiteman on the day.

I have always enjoyed design so I found it easy to put effort into assignments and study. The secret for doing well in VCE is enjoying the subjects you choose.

I am grateful for the opportunities provided by our school, and I couldn’t have succeeded without Mr Karailis who supported and guided our class throughout the year.

Whilst the workload in VCE can seem daunting, I made sure that I maintained study

routines but also kept in contact with my sports, friends and had regular breaks”.

Brighton Secondary College principal Anne Stout said the entire school community was proud of Matthew Ward.

”To receive a Premier’s Award is an incredible achievement, and Matt’s success is a testament to his conscientiousness, design skills and excellent work ethic.  We are very proud of Matt’s effort, and delighted to see him acknowledged in this way.”
