St Luke's... "nurturing faith filled, curious children to become creative contributors and innovative problem solvers for a changing world."
Dear Families,
Year 12 students at our school have once again demonstrated their creativity, resilience, and dedication through their remarkable major projects. These projects, which are completed in selected courses, contribute directly to their external marks, reducing their final examination load. The beauty of these projects is that they offer students an alternative means of assessment, aligned with the course outcomes that emphasize practical skills, research, or creative thinking. Whether building intricate dining suites, producing full-length films, or conducting extensive research, our students have spent an entire year perfecting their craft.
The journey of completing a major project is filled with challenges. There's a reason we speak of the 'blood, sweat, and tears' that go into these works. The intense commitment required often pushes students to their limits, but the moment they hold their finished project—an accomplishment months in the making—the pride and sense of achievement is immeasurable. Beyond the immediate satisfaction, many students also use their projects as part of their university entrance portfolios, offering an alternative pathway to the traditional ATAR.
The invaluable support provided by our dedicated teachers cannot go unmentioned. They live and breathe each project alongside their students, offering guidance, expertise, additional time and encouragement at every step. Often, our teachers experience the same stress and pressure as the students, if not more. Their commitment ensures that every student reaches their potential, and they share in the pride of seeing a project through to its successful completion.
We are excited to announce that all major projects, along with examples of our students' exceptional creative works throughout the year, will be proudly displayed at our upcoming "Creative Contributors" event, which will be held on Sep 10th. We look forward to celebrating the innovative and imaginative contributions of our students with the entire school community.
Kind Regards,
Kelly Bauer
