Interschool Sport

The first half of Term 4 has been full of sport events, with a mix of Darebin, Region and State. We were also proud to have teams in each of the age categories at the Rugby Victoria Girls Tri Tag event, which was held at the Home of Rugby Union in Victoria, La Trobe Uni.
Darebin
The two options for Years 7-10 this term are Futsal and Tenpin Bowling. There was again significant interest and participation in these sports! We had team success at the Futsal events, with our Y9/10 Girls team and Y7 Boys team winning their competitions.
Well done also to Angus Innes, for being the number 1 ranked player overall at the Year 9/10 Tenpin Bowling tournament.
North Metro Region
There were many of our teams that had progressed through Darebin Division events in earlier terms, to qualify for NMR finals played in Term 4. Across different age groups, we had teams representing our school for sports including Cricket, Basketball, Hockey, Tennis and Table Tennis. Special mention to the Year 7 Boys Hockey team that finished as region runner-up!
State
The State Track & Field Championships were held at Lakeside Stadium on Monday October 20. It was testing weather conditions early in the event for the athletes with the persistent rain.
Our competing athletes:
Finn Robinson - Hurdles, Tia Hockey - Discus, Eamon Speairs - High Jump, Evan Kondys - 400 metres, Ruby Ozougwu - 100 metres, 17 age group boys/mixed 4x100m relay team: Tansy Grandage-Stone, Archie Henderson, Julian Pollard, Christian Kodagoda
Congratulations to Ruby who had a podium placing, finishing 2nd in the 100m sprint. Made even more remarkable by the fact she completed the race with an injury sustained during the event!
