At the start of the term our International students organised a cooking and sharing session.

They planned a number of dishes including: honey chicken, spicy noodles, sushi, stir fried pork, gyoza and many more. They had a great time cooking and sharing their items.

We had over 40 students attending the event and they brought friends to share their cultural foods.

A big thank you to Ms Truong, Ms Penny ( the school nurse ) and Ms Zhou for helping on the day.

Since the start of Term 3, Year 7 Japanese Beginner and Intermediate students have commenced their learning of how to describe their friends and family.

This week, students in Ms Tynan’s class have started to learn how to use adjectives to describe their friends. The work photographed, belonging to Beginners students Arianna Tabach, Isla Casto, Theo Hoffman and Seth Tumino, depicts one of the independent working tasks completed by the students at this level.

As shown, students are working on their handwriting using the Hiragana script, while applying the adjectives to describe one of their friends.

Learning Greek Through Collaboration and Conversation

Our Year 7 Greek students have been developing their Greek language skills through a range of engaging and collaborative classroom activities.

Working in small groups, students practise their new vocabulary through reading and speaking, with more proficient students sometimes supporting their classmates.

This gives developing learners valuable encouragement while allowing proficient students to further strengthen their own language skills by teaching and modelling Greek for others.

Students have also been enjoying our Inside Circle, Outside Circle activity. Students move around the classroom, changing partners as they practise asking and answering questions in Greek. Using newly acquired vocabulary and grammar, they take part in short, mock scenarios that encourage them to use Greek in meaningful and spontaneous ways.

These activities provide students with repeated opportunities to practise speaking and listening while building confidence in using the language. They also help students to prepare for their Oral CAT, where they role-play a scenario using key vocabulary and grammatical structures learned throughout the term.

Through collaboration, peer support and conversation, students are developing not only their Greek language skills but also their confidence and ability to work positively with others.
