A perspective on Year 8 Food Studies – By Divyam Setia 8A

Food Studies this semester has been an exciting, new challenge for all the Year 8's. 

In the theory class, we've gained sound knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene, whilst the practical classes have given us a chance to understand how a kitchen really works. 

We've made a variety of recipes; today we added choc chip cookies to our repertoire. Each new dish has brought its own challenges and a great sense of achievement once the final product is ready to taste. In our practical classes, we've applied our time management and teamwork skills to be able to enjoy our food at the end of the lesson. 

Working in pairs and small groups has taught us how to communicate clearly, share tasks fairly, and problem solve when recipes don’t work out as planned. We have been improving every week with our skills, and our cooking lesson is the highlight of the week for some!
