The St Aloysius Master Plan: Building Our Future
Capital Works & Campus Transformation Update - Thursday, 6 August
Exciting progress continues across our campus as we lay the foundations for the future of St Aloysius College. Here is an update on several key milestones currently underway:
New Temporary Village Learning Centre
Construction of our new Village Learning Centre is now complete, and the space is officially open and operational for student learning and study.
Relocation of the College Chapel
Our sacred space has been successfully moved into its new position on the College Oval. Final touches are currently underway, including surrounding landscaping and the installation of safety railings for the new accessible entry ramp. We are thrilled to share that the Chapel will be fully ready to welcome staff and students on Monday, 10 August.
Transformation of the old Learning Centre into the new College Office
Internal stripping of the old Learning Centre is progressing well as we transform the space into our state-of-the-art College Office. We anticipate commencing our move toward the end of Term 3, with the new administration hub fully operational for the start of Term 4.
New Student Entry & Cross Road Precinct
Significant earthworks and pathway construction are occurring along Cross Road and the front of the campus. This includes an updated student entry, accessible pathways, and a welcoming landscaped approach to the new main office entrance.
Temporary Staff Facilities on the Oval
To accommodate our staff during the major construction phase of our new three-storey building in early 2027, temporary staff facilities on the College oval are near completion. Staff will transition from the current Gunnamatta Road administration building to these facilities on the College Oval toward the end of the school year in term 4.
Demolition Phase
We are preparing to demolish the existing Gunnamatta Road current administration/Office building, with works planned for the upcoming Christmas school holiday period while students and staff are off-site to ensure minimal disruption.
Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up Request
We strongly request that parents and carers avoid using the Gunnamatta Road College Office driveway (see picture below) for student drop-off and pick-up throughout the construction period. This area is very small and was never intended for student drop-offs; vehicle access here creates severe traffic congestion during peak times (8:00am – 8:35am and 2:50pm – 3:10pm). Please continue to use the designated drop-off zones on Cross Road, where students can safely enter the College via the new pedestrian gate near the oval.
Managing Noise & Prioritising Learning During Construction
As these projects progress, our primary focus remains on maintaining an uninterrupted learning environment for all students.
All contractors working on site are fully briefed on strict noise restrictions, particularly during the upcoming Trial HSC, HSC examination and assessment blocks. While it is impossible to eliminate construction noise entirely, contractors are scheduling high-impact, noisy tasks early in the morning before 9:00am or after 2:30pm wherever possible.
To protect classroom focus, we are carefully staging these capital works in distinct phases over the next two and a half years rather than carrying out simultaneous construction across the entire site.
