Student Voice, Agency & Leadership

Student leadership continues to play a vital role in shaping the culture of Lara Secondary College. Our student leaders have been busy organising events, gathering student voice and creating opportunities for every student to feel connected, valued and proud of our school community.

This term, we congratulate Sarisha Vagadia and Ella Smith, who have been representing Lara Secondary College at the Alpine School campus. Throughout the program, they have embraced new challenges, developed their leadership skills and built lasting friendships with students from across Victoria. We look forward to welcoming them back and hearing about the experiences and insights they have gained.

We also congratulate Annalise, Holly and Sarisha on representing Lara Secondary College at the Youth Business Leadership Summit. Throughout the summit, students participated in workshops with industry and community leaders, developed their leadership capabilities and explored the skills required to lead with confidence in their future careers and communities. We extend our sincere thanks to the Bendigo Bank for their continued support of this outstanding opportunity and their ongoing investment in developing the next generation of young leaders at Lara Secondary College.

Back on campus, our SRC has been hard at work preparing for one of the highlights of the term - our very first College Colour Run. This exciting event promises to bring together students and staff for an afternoon of fun, school spirit and community connection. We can't wait to see our college come alive in a burst of colour!

Students have also enjoyed another successful themed dress day, providing a fun opportunity to celebrate our school community while raising funds for future student-led initiatives. These events continue to showcase the creativity, enthusiasm and school pride of our students.

Ensuring every student has a voice remains a key priority. Throughout the term, our student leaders have been conducting Vox Pop interviews to gather feedback on our Celebration Assemblies. Hearing directly from students allows us to continue refining these events so they are engaging, meaningful and reflective of what our school community values most.

Looking ahead, applications for our 2027 Student Leadership Team are now open for current Year 11 students. We encourage any student who is passionate about making a positive difference within our school to consider applying. Leadership at Lara Secondary College is about collaboration and creating opportunities for others, and we look forward to seeing the next generation of student leaders step forward.

Salam hangat,
