Wellbeing Update

It has been another busy and rewarding start to the term for the Wellbeing Team at Lara Secondary College!
Bunji Program
This term, we were pleased to commence the Bunji Social and Emotional Learning Program with a selected group of Year 7 students. So far, the students have also been learning about the Zones of Regulation, helping them to recognise and understand their emotions, identify how they are feeling, and develop practical strategies to regulate their emotions and behaviours. This common language supports students both in the classroom and beyond. We look forward to seeing our students continue to develop these important life skills throughout the program.
The Workshop- hands on learning program
Our hands on learning program, The Workshop, also recommenced this term. Students have been busy developing practical skills while working collaboratively on a meaningful project. We are excited to share that the group are close to completing a set of picnic tables that will soon become a fantastic addition to our school yard. We are incredibly proud of their teamwork, craftsmanship and commitment.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club continues to be a popular way for students to start the day. Last week, we welcomed a very special guest our Acting Principal, Andrew McConchie who joined the team to help prepare toasties for students. Andrew quickly earned an excellent reputation, receiving plenty of positive feedback from students about his impressive toastie making skills! Thank you, Andrew, for lending a hand and helping create such a welcoming start to the morning.
Welcome to Our New Secondary School Nurse
We are delighted to welcome Kate Newlyn as our new Secondary School Nurse. Kate joins us from Lara Lake Primary School, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a passion for supporting young people's health and wellbeing. We are thrilled to have her as part of the Lara Secondary College community and look forward to the valuable support she will provide to our students and families.
The Wellbeing Team looks forward to continuing to support our students throughout the remainder of the term and thanks our school community for its ongoing encouragement and support.
