SWPBS

At Lara Secondary College, we believe that every student learns best in an environment where expectations are clear, consistent and positive. Throughout this term, our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) team has continued to strengthen the systems and routines that help create calm, predictable and engaging learning environments across the college.

One of our key focuses has been refining our classroom routines. From the moment students arrive at the classroom door through to the end of the lesson, consistent entry and exit routines are helping maximise learning time, reduce disruptions and ensure students know exactly what is expected of them. These small, everyday practices make a significant difference in creating classrooms where everyone can succeed.

We have also introduced a consistent whole-school Call to Attention routine. Whether students are in classrooms, assemblies or year-level gatherings, the same simple signal is now used across the college in all settings to quickly gain attention and transition attention back to what matters most. This consistency helps students respond confidently regardless of the setting and supports a calm, focused learning environment.

Alongside these routines, we continue to celebrate the many positive choices our students make each day. Staff regularly recognise students who demonstrate our college values of Excellence, Respect, Teamwork and Commitment through our Success Pass system. Positive recognition remains a cornerstone of our SWPBS framework, reinforcing the behaviours that help every student contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive school community. So far this term, there has been over 1600 Success Passes awarded to our students for demonstrating our College values.

We are incredibly proud of the way our students continue to embrace these expectations and thank our staff and families for their ongoing support in promoting positive behaviour and a culture of learning across Lara Secondary College.
