Welcome to Term 3!

We are excited for another wonderful term of learning in Prep. Throughout Term 3, students will have many opportunities to build on their existing knowledge while exploring new and engaging concepts. As we introduce new learning experiences, we will also revisit familiar ideas to strengthen understanding, confidence and mastery. We look forward to continuing to foster a love of learning, encourage curiosity, and support students in developing greater resilience and independence in their everyday classroom routines.

Here are some of the exciting learning experiences happening in our Prep classrooms this term...

Integrated Studies

During the first half of the term, our Integrated Studies unit is 'Discovery'. Through this engaging topic, students will explore how discoveries, both big and small, help us learn more about ourselves and the world around us. The unit is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and a sense of wonder as students investigate new ideas, solve problems and make meaningful connections. We are very much looking forward to our Twisted Science excursion in a couple of weeks which will tie in nicely with this topic.

English

Alongside our Phonics Plus program, there will be a strong focus on narrative writing. The students will use their imaginations to create simple stories by developing characters, settings, problems and solutions. Over multiple lessons, students will design characters to write about, learn descriptive words to describe settings, and brainstorm problems that may occur in stories.

Math

In Math, we are continuing to strengthen students' understanding of place value. This essential concept provides the foundation for future mathematical learning, including addition, subtraction and problem-solving. The students have been participating in a range of hands-on learning experiences to deepen their understanding and confidence with numbers beyond 10.

100 Days of Prep!

One of the highlights of the term is our upcoming 100 Days of Prep celebration! Since the beginning of the year, students have been counting each day of school by representing the number in a variety of ways, including digits, words, tally marks, tens frames, pop sticks and money. Next week, we will proudly celebrate reaching this exciting milestone with our 'Hundred Days Brighter' dress-up day, a hot chip lunch and plenty of fun activities. We can't wait to celebrate together!
