Library News – Term Highlights
Term 4 has been our busiest and most exciting term yet in the library!
We’ve packed the past few months with meaningful events, vibrant displays, and hands-on activities for our students. We began the term by acknowledging Remembrance Day, accompanied by a thoughtful display of war-themed books to honour those who served our country so bravely. From there, the library transformed rapidly as we moved through Halloween, our Premier’s Reading Challenge celebrations, and finally into Christmas festivities.
HALLOWEEN
The library was once again a visual feast this year! From the moment students walked in, they were greeted with immersive decorations celebrating the ‘Trick or Treat’ season. We featured interactive props, spooky statues, giant inflatables, and even our very own large haunted house complete with sparkling lights.
A huge thank you goes to the Darrabi boys’ class for their outstanding help in decorating and setting up the space—your efforts brought the library to life.
We also ran an exciting Halloween Escape Room Challenge. So many students turned up that we needed to cap participation at 50 to ensure everyone got the most out of the experience. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm!
PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE CELEBRATION PARTY
2025 marked Kambrya’s first year participating in the state-wide Premier’s Reading Challenge—and what a success it was! We proudly congratulate the 34 students who completed the challenge within the set timeframe and embraced the joy of reading with such positivity and commitment.
Participants read 10 books from the official reading list, plus 5 free-choice texts. Many students went above and beyond, including our top reader, Pragyan Aryal, who read over 32 books!
To celebrate our finishers, we hosted a VIP party in the library complete with a red carpet, hot chips, lollies, soft drinks, and special Harry Potter–themed cupcakes handmade by our Library Technician, Elyse. Our Assistant Principal, Lisa Luck, made a special visit to present completion certificates, and several other members of the leadership team also popped in to congratulate our students.
Our top five readers were awarded a PRC Champions badge to wear proudly on their uniforms.
On behalf of the Library Team, we thank all students who participated this year and encourage even more readers to join the challenge in 2026. Keep reading, everyone!
CHRISTMAS
Our Christmas display is now shining brightly as we enter the final weeks of the year.
Students have enjoyed weekly MakerSpace sessions leading up to the holidays, with the most popular activities being tote-bag decorating and picture-frame making.
We wish everyone a joyful holiday season and a wonderful break.
Don’t forget—you can borrow thousands of books over the holidays through our online collection: https://kambryacollege.eplatform.co.
Happy Summer reading everyone!
