We would like to congratulate Pragya Verma on being chosen as the recipient of the 2025 Deakin Young Influencer Award. This award is open to all Year 11 students, and Pragya was selected as Kambrya College’s winner, which is an incredible achievement.
The Deakin Young Influencer Award recognises excellence and celebrates students who are truly motivated to make a positive difference in the world, now and into the future. The University has rewarded Pragya’s efforts and achievements with a $5000 scholarship to support her first year of study at Deakin in 2027.
Pragya has demonstrated exceptional community leadership through her involvement in the Casey Youth Action Committee, Casey Youth Climate Action Committee, and volunteering at the Australian Red Cross in Berwick. She has led initiatives including the Youth Garden Project, co-led consultations at the Casey Youth Summit, and organised sustainability workshops for primary students, showing initiative, organisation, and empathy.
Pragya’s contributions reflect Deakin’s values of Community Leadership, Change Advocacy, and Progressive Thinking, with her actions fostering inclusive environments and empowering others in her community. Her dedication and effort have been recognised by her school, which commends her academic excellence and active engagement.
