Year 7 SEAL Excursion to Casey Tech School
On the 9th October our Year 7 SEAL class (G7S) visited Casey Tech School to learn about all about various forms of technology. They had a fantastic day doing experiments and lots of practical, hands on experiences.
Today I was given the great privilege of travelling to Casey Tech with my fellow peers. At the institution we studied the evolution of Technology and the integration of Technology in agriculture, specifically in the field of apple harvesting. In groups we were given the chance to drive and program the RoboMasterEP to harvest a model of an apple tree. This experience was very enjoyable. Along with this, we investigated Forces and the use of Vertical Wind Tunnels. In the experimental investigation we used miniature vertical wind tunnels to further understand how humans are able to do such aerobatics whilst fighting a large amount of air resistance. We faced different styles of challenges including “Make an object that can float for ten seconds in the tunnel” and “Create an object that flips 5 times in the tunnel” etc.. Overall, I deeply appreciated the experience and hope I can go again soon.

On October 9th, my grade seven SEAL classmates and I had the phenomenal opportunity to visit Casey Tech. Our first activity centred on robots and coding, where we used a "Robo Master" to program a robot to pick an apple from a model tree while also exploring remote control features. The experience was thrilling! We then moved on to studying air forces and aerodynamics. After our instructor explained these concepts, we tested various materials in miniature wind tunnels. My favourite part was creating prototypes, which really showed just how fun science can be! By the end, our class had gained a deeper understanding of robotics and aerodynamics. Experiencing the practical applications of science and engineering in such an engaging, hands-on way made this day unforgettable. Furthermore, the instructors that we met there were so inspiring and fun, making our experience even better. I can confidently say that this trip has had a positive and inspiring impact on all of us!
