What’s your (Faith) Story?

Relationships are interesting aren’t they! 

There’s the ‘Getting to know you stage’... 

the ‘Can I really trust you?’ stage... 

and then the ways the relationship develops over time.

How about our relationship with God? He is always there... desiring to connect with us, wanting us to walk life’s journey with him, loved and secure... 

But what does that actually look like in someone’s life? 

Let’s hear from one of our amazing past students, as she shares some of her Faith Story.

How did you first hear about God?

I’ve grown up in a Christian family and I’ve gone to church since I was a little baby. God has always been in my life. I’ve heard about God through reading the Lost Sheep books when I was young, listening to Worship songs and going to church.

Can you describe a time when it was hard to trust God?

After I left this school, I went to a public high school and they don’t do Chapel there. We don’t really talk about God. It was kind of hard to keep moving in my faith when God isn’t something that you regularly talk about. It was hard to trust God when I wasn’t talking with others about Him. 

How did that story end?

It has given me the opportunity to impact the people that I hang around. I have found some friends to go to Youth with. They sometimes go to church. Talking about God is really good!

Can you describe what your current relationship with God looks like?

I pray to Him as often as I can. I read devotions and go to church and Youth Group regularly. I keep asking questions... that way I get to know him better. 

What is one of your favourite bible texts? 

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Describe Jesus using 3 different words. 

Loving, Almighty and Shepherd.

What is one of your favourite worship songs?

‘Chain Breaker’! The song says that you can give God any problem, any burden and he takes it on. He’s with you always and will guide you, showing you the path forward. 

Do you have any advice, especially for our Senior students who will be graduating at the end of the year, that will help them as they launch into new adventures?

Just keep showing God’s love and reflect Him in all that you do. Keep praying to him. Don’t forget He’s there. He’ll guide you and will show you the right path!
