From the Principal

As we come to the end of Term 3, it is wonderful to reflect on another full and rewarding term at Endeavour College. Across the classroom, sporting arena, stage and beyond, our students have continued to embrace opportunities, challenge themselves and represent our College with great pride. 

There have been some outstanding achievements to celebrate in recent weeks. Congratulations to our students who competed in the Regional Interschool Chess Competition, with Endeavour taking out the win! 

This was a fantastic achievement and testament to the skill, preparation and teamwork of everyone involved. 

Congratulations also to our Illuminate Entrepreneurial team, who achieved overall first place and Best Solution with their business, Common Ground. It was wonderful to see our students bring together creativity, collaboration and entrepreneurial thinking to develop an innovative solution and achieve such an impressive result. 

The term has also provided opportunities for our students to shine through the Arts and public speaking. Centre Stage was a wonderful celebration of student talent and creativity, while our Debating season continues, with our Senior Yellow team progressing to the Grand Final on Saturday, 17 October. 

We wish the team every success as they prepare for this exciting final challenge. 

On the sporting front, congratulations to our U14 Basketball team Grand Final Champions! If you like your grand finals with drama, determination and a heart-stopping finish, be sure to read the play-by-play account later in The Anchor. It was certainly a memorable way to finish the season. 

 This past weekend also saw our Pedal Prix team race for the final time in 2026, taking on the 24-hour race at Murray Bridge. Both teams performed extremely well, particularly given the hotter-than-usual conditions for this time of year. Congratulations to all of our riders and the staff, families and supporters who contributed to another successful Pedal Prix season. 

While our students and staff enjoy a well-earned break, work around the College will continue. Over the Term 3 break, works will commence on the expansion of our canteen facilities, including an upgrade to the kitchen, as we continue to invest in spaces that support our growing College community. The redevelopment will create a café-style environment for staff and students, with a particular focus on providing an inviting and purposeful space for our Year 12 cohort. The initiative also supports our ongoing focus on improving ATAR outcomes, encouraging our senior students to remain on-site and make greater use of a university-style learning environment that supports connection, study and collaboration. We will also install the Endeavour College Wall of Fame in the EC Foyer, providing a lasting opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements and contributions of members of our community. 

As we conclude Term 3 and look ahead to Term 4 and 2027, please note the following staffing updates. 

Firstly, a big congratulations to the following appointments: 

Ms Genene Garth has been appointed SACE Coordinator on a two-year tenure. 

Ms Helen Carter has been appointed Acting Head of MacKillop Village for 2027. 

We are also pleased to announce the appointment of external applicant Mr Jeff Fischer as Head of Heysen Village on an ongoing basis. 

Mr Fischer brings more than 30 years of teaching and leadership experience across schools in Australia and internationally. With a background in Health and Physical Education, Science and curriculum leadership, Mr Fischer has held a number of teaching and leadership roles throughout his career. He also brings extensive experience in co-curricular programs, student wellbeing, SACE and IB education, along with a strong passion for sport and coaching. 

We wish Ms Kelli DeLacy all the very best as she takes Long Service Leave during Term 4. During Ms DeLacy’s absence, we look forward to seeing Mr Mitchell Wells and Ms Lianne Zilm step into their respective acting roles. 

Additionally, we welcome Mr Edward Hughes, who will teach Year 10 History during Term 4 in Ms DeLacy’s absence. 

Mr Hughes previously completed a teaching placement here at Endeavour. Edward has a strong interest in History, Humanities and Social Sciences and brings teaching experience from both Australia and the UK. 

He has worked across primary and secondary settings and has experience supporting students with a wide range of learning needs. 

We also look forward to welcoming back Pastor Chris, who has been on Long Service Leave during Term 3. A sincere thank you to Paul Fielke, who has been a wonderful asset to the College and provided valuable support in the Ministry space during Chris’s leave. 

As we close Term 3, I extend my thanks to our students, staff and families for the energy, commitment and support you continue to bring to Endeavour College. There is much to be proud of, and much to look forward to as we enter the final term of the year. 

I wish everyone a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break, and I look forward to welcoming our community back for Term 4.
