Student Recognition
We are incredibly proud of two Year 6 students who have shown exceptional talent and flair in their writing this term. Their creativity, voice and sophisticated storytelling have earned them a place in the Book Week Writing Competition, where their pieces will be judged alongside entries from students across a variety of other schools. Their work demonstrates maturity beyond their years, and we are thrilled to see them representing Year 6 with such passion. We will keep you posted on how they go — below is what they wrote, and we know you’ll be just as impressed as we are.
Glorious Twinkle City
Sofia Year 6
Glorious Twinkle City chirped with drama! Queen Sakura had to step down after reigning as queen for 80 years! She was in a flutter to find the perfect successor. Every petal roofed village and neon-lit suburb buzzed with the one main question; who will win the Crown of Magnolia? At luxury Jacaranda Cafe, two pixies combined star sugar into their pink drink coffees.
“I heard Shelly-Bow gifted golden lilies for the judges to favour her!” Lady Lychee explained.
Lilli Pilli clutched her clover stem, “Did she steal them from the forbidden garden?”
“Yes! She used shadow magic to sneak in!” Lady Lychee replied.
Suddenly, the mossy cobblestone drive filled with curious fairies! Queen Sakura gracefully flew on stage: “Dear citizens, my 80 year reign is coming to an end. I need a queen who knows this city back to front, listens to everyone, and who is a great role model for Glorious Twinkle City.” The crowd held a breath all together. “The Crown of Magnolia goes to…,” Queen Sakura pointed to a dusty petite fairy in ink stained clothes. “Bambi!” The fairies were in utter shock. Bambi frantically froze. “Me?!”
While the pixies gossiped about random candidates, Bambi was right there keeping the place running: Giving jobs, picking up rubbish and helping everyone in need. Bambi was the perfect queen and no one had realised. Bambi took the crown and fluttered magically ever after.

Heat biting at my neck
Screams echoing across the hall
When will it end?

My helmet is smouldering
My clothes aflame
My extinguisher empty
My comrades gone
Lost, in an endless maze of fire
Chapter 2
I drag my axe
I smash open the door
Inside
A child
An innocent child left to the mercy of the flames
He is beyond saving
Burnt and chocked
Another victim to the flames
Another life cut short
Another mother weeps
Chapter 3
Every minute
I find another
Another claimed by hell
Another innocent
Another death
I see a window, melting away
The last time I will see sunlight
The last time I will feel comfort
Joy
Hope
I turn, looking at the danger ahead
Why not quit now?
But I know I can’t
I must venture on
A one way ticket to hell

Scared
Every second could be my last

A huge congratulations to Tyrion in Year 5, who took out first place in the jersey design competition for his soccer club, PBFC! Starting next season, every team across the entire club will be wearing Tyrion’s custom designed kit on the field. We are incredibly impressed by his creativity and so proud to see his artistic talents recognized in the wider community. Phenomenal effort, Tyrion! We are so proud of you!
