Year 5 Brings Biomes to Life

In Geography, Year 5 has been investigating the world's biomes! Students have become true environmental researchers—exploring extreme climates, examining topographic maps, analysing real-world climate data and uncovering animal and plant adaptations.

Armed with this knowledge, students are now designing their very own biomes. They are currently developing the topography and strategically placing a sustainable settlement that utilises the natural environment. Soon, they will take their detailed blueprints straight to the STEM lab to bring their biomes to life on the 3D printers!

YEAR 6

This term in Year 6, students have been diving into the lives of influential Indigenous Australians who have shaped our nation’s culture, laws and way of life. After weeks of researching, note‑taking and crafting their own documentary or podcast scripts, our young filmmakers are ready for the next stage. Filming begins this week using the school’s green screen and the fantastic technology available in our media space. We can’t wait to share their finished documentaries and podcasts with you — move over David Attenborough, Year 6 are on their way.

STEM

Last week, students on Yrs 2-6 conducted a Science experiment that involved students simulating a meteor strike. The experiment had students drop meteors (golf balls, space balls, shot puts) from a height of 1 metre. Students measured the size and depth of the resulting crater. It was a bit messy but lots of fun.
