Region Cross Country

All seven EHPS students performed extremely well in the Division event and thoroughly deserved their qualification to compete in the Eastern Metropolitan Region race on Thursday 12 June. The Region Cross Country course at Yarra Glen Racecourse was very challenging, especially the steady hill towards the end of the race. Everyone should be pleased with their efforts, proudly representing Essex Heights. It was so exciting to watch them participate. Congratulations!

I competed at the Eastern Region Cross Country on the 12th June. It was my first ever time going to Region and I was super scared. But I ended up placing 45th out of 91 runners and was super proud of my effort and I can’t wait to try again next year.

I would like to thank Ms Hocking and Miss Kemp for organising the event. I would also like to thank Ms Hocking and Mr Perini for coming and watching us.

Emily (Year 4)

I competed In the Eastern Metropolitan Region Cross Country on the 12th of June. I took part in the 11 year old girls’ race with over ninety competitors. During the race I felt sick but I managed to finish it. I enjoyed my first time at Region even though I didn’t place and wasn’t in the best state to run. A big thanks to Mr Perini and Ms Hocking for supporting and cheering us on during our races, as well as to my Dad for driving me to the racecourse.

Grace C (Year 5)

On the 12th of June I competed at the Eastern Region Cross Country at Yarra Glen Racecourse. I competed in the 11 year old boys’ race and ran 3km. It was my first time racing at Region so I was really proud of myself because for the last few years, I haven’t reached this stage. I aimed for top seventy as Region is a lot better than Division as we have lots of private schools in our region, and in the end, I came 69th.

I would like to thank Ms Hocking and Mr Perini for coming along and supporting everyone who was racing. It was an amazing opportunity to see everyone race because I got to watch some of the best runners in Australia. I had an amazing time and I look forward to doing cross country next year at high school.

Marcus (Year 6)

I competed in the Region Cross Country last Thursday. This was my first time I competed so I was quite nervous because I didn’t have a friend running with me, like I had at Division. It was a harder track because of the big hill that we had to run up at the halfway point of the track. Sadly, I didn’t make it to State but I still had a lot of fun and it was a very exciting experience for me.

Milly (Year 6)

I competed in the Region Cross Country on the 12th of June. When I got there, I was very nervous but I had lots of fun and I also saw lots of familiar faces. A big thanks to Ms Hocking, Mr Perini and my Dad for watching and supporting us.

Jayan (Year 6)

I was one of seven people who participated in Region Cross Country last Thursday. I had a great day as I saw a lot of footy and basketball friends. There were 93 people in my race and I came 60th. I would like to thank my Mum, Dad for training me, Mr Perini and Ms Hocking for supporting us and making this happen.

Mavi (Year 6)

When I first arrived at the track there were already so many people getting ready to race. There were 93 people in my race including Jayan, Mavi, and some of my football friends. Overall, I placed 8th which meant that I could go to State. Congratulations to all the Essex Heights people who ran at Region. A huge thanks to Ms Hocking and Mr Perini for coming and supporting us.
