Year 1

Marvellous Minibeasts!
As part of our Minibeasts integrated unit of work, our Year One students participated in a wonderful interactive incursion on Wednesday 11 June – Labcoat Marvellous Minibeasts.
The students were highly engaged in hands-on activities, including identifying bugs under a microscope, enjoying quiet time in a butterfly enclosure, and getting up close and personal with live butterflies. They also had the opportunity to make their own warning wristbands and were challenged to keep minibeasts safely contained in secure bug enclosures – even as the creatures hopped about!
Cameron, our enthusiastic presenter, entertained and captivated the students with fascinating facts about minibeasts and their habitats. One of the highlights was meeting Stella, a stick insect who perched on Cameron’s safari hat, much to the delight and amazement of the children.
There was much chatter and excitement in our classes afterwards. We look forward to continuing exploring this theme in our upcoming Minibeast Day to be held next Tuesday, 24 June.
