DSC Sport – Term 3 Wrap-Up 🏆

As we wrap up the second half of Term 3, I want to take a moment to congratulate all students, coaches, and teachers on an incredible term of sport. The participation, enthusiasm, and pride you’ve shown in representing Doncaster Secondary College has been inspiring. Whether it was on the field, court, pitch, or sidelines, your smiles, laughter, and commitment to living our school values have made this an unforgettable term.

🥏 Division Round Robins

Friday 22nd August – Division Ultimate Frisbee

A huge display of participation with six teams competing across the college. A special shout-out to our Year 10–12 Boys A team, who played with passion and skill all day and came away with a nail-biting victory over Balwyn HS in the final, earning themselves the pennant and bragging rights as the best team of the competition.

Tuesday 26th August – Intermediate Division Round Robin

Basketball, table tennis and handball were all on show, with strong representation from DSC across all sports. It was fantastic to see such high participation numbers and students embracing the chance to compete, support each other, and represent the college.

Thursday 4th September – Year 8 Division Round Robin

Our Year 8s were out in force across volleyball, table tennis, hockey and handball. A special mention to the Year 8 Boys Hockey Team, who were outstanding all day and will now progress to the Regional Finals.

Wednesday 10th September – Year 7 Division Round Robin

Our Year 7 students capped off their year with massive smiles and infectious energy. Teams competed in volleyball, table tennis and handball, with the Volleyball Boys B Team taking home the win – well done!

⚽ Senior Soccer State Finals

Tuesday 2nd September – Senior Boys State Soccer

After a stellar season, our Senior Boys earned their place at the State Finals and held their own against the best in Victoria. Despite remaining undefeated (1 win, 2 draws), the boys narrowly missed the final on goal difference, finishing 2nd in their pool. A fantastic achievement that we are all proud of.

Tuesday 9th September – Senior Girls State Soccer

History was made as our Senior Girls made their first-ever appearance at the State Finals! Missing a few key players, the team fought hard and displayed incredible spirit. This group has laid a strong foundation and are already looking to go one better in 2026.

🥇 State Ultimate Frisbee

Tuesday 16th September – High School State Championships

Two enthusiastic Year 11 teams (Boys & Mixed) took to the State Championships with minimal experience but plenty of determination. Both teams improved rapidly throughout the day, displayed exceptional sportsmanship, and had a blast doing it.

Our Boys Team finished 1st in their pool, earning a spot in the Gold Medal match. In an epic and tight contest, they worked tirelessly to claim the B Grade State Championship – a massive accomplishment given the experienced opposition.

🏆 2025 DSC Senior Futsal Tournament – Franc Brogno Cup

The Franc Brogno Cup once again delivered non-stop excitement, skill, and brilliant lunchtime entertainment. Students packed the stadium to cheer, laugh, and celebrate some incredible futsal action.

Highlights included:

  • James Boukouvalas scoring the undisputed Goal of the Tournament
  • Teachers stepping in as team managers and building great connections with senior students
  • Edge-of-your-seat finals, capped off by Mr Wills, captain Levy Oxha and the Rhinos defeating the Alligators to become 2025 Franc Brogno Cup Champions
  • A three way tie for Best & Fairest of the tournament between Mikael Evagorou-Alao, Kosta Lenetis and Levy Oxha.

👨‍🏫 Staff v Year 12 Futsal

Arguably the event of the year, the stadium was jam-packed for the annual Staff v Year 12 clash. The teachers showed flashes of brilliance (and a few signs of fatigue) in a fiery, fun, back-and-forth contest. The game ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw, with rumours already swirling about a Term 4 rematch.

🎉 Closing Thoughts

Term 3 has been absolutely jam-packed with sport – from local round robins to state finals and lunchtime tournaments – and our school culture has shone brightly.

Thank you to all students for participating with pride and energy, and to our staff and coaches for their time, care and passion. The atmosphere created at DSC this term has made sport a true highlight of school life. Bring on Term 4!
