School Council

Dear Fellow Parents, 

Welcome back for term two, and what an exciting term it looks to be for school council. The March school council meeting each year is the first meeting of the new council, and we thank those councillors who have either returned or have joined for the first time. 

Once the formalities of the meeting were complete, the following sub-committees were formed with the following priorities. 

EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY

With government schools ceasing all 'Bring Your Own Device' programs from 2027, one of the priorities for this committee will be to assist in deciding what school-owned device students will use from 2027. This committee will also review the homework policy with support from our community and assist with community events such as our upcoming art show. 

BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS

Priorities for this committee in 2026 include finalising the current refurbishment of toilets near the gym, and seeking funding for the Prep/One toilet block. Depending on funding, this committee also hopes to have the BER building re-painted inside, the front office refurbished and start the process of re-carpeting the classrooms, a project that will take several years. 

FINANCE AND GOVERNANCE 

Leveraging off of the hard work of the other committees, the priorities for this committee make the recommendations of the others a reality. This committee will review and endorse contracts for building upgrades, hardware purchases such as computers, and policy reviews such as homework. 

Together these sub-committees will keep our improvement cycle a priority, and ensure we continue to provide the best opportunities available to students at Mackellar.
