Art
Term 2, Week 2
Welcome BPS Artists young and old. 😊
It is terrific to see everyone back at school and straight into their creative learning in Art.
Many of the children have enjoyed sharing the highlights of their holidays and it is wonderful to know that so many children enjoy following up their own Art activities at home including painting, drawing, modelling, and construction.
Another Arty area of ‘holiday highlights’ were visits to the local Galleries, Artvo, to the National Gallery of Victoria (International) and The Ian Potter Centre for Australian Art.
Children benefit so much from these visits and seeing famous and fascinating two and three-dimensional Art works in a Gallery setting.
Term 2
This term we will be having a 'Creative' focus on ' The Art Elements ' and how we work with these 6 elements to create our Artwork.
Art Elements are often referred to as the 'Building Blocks' we use to make our Artworks.
Using the Art Elements, we make Art to express our ideas, what we feel, what we imagine and what we see.
Art is such a wonderful creative subject, allowing for individual learning, skill development, open ended activities, and personal expression of unique ideas.
The Six Art Elements are:

Students will work with a range of materials around this theme. Focus on Artwork to include: a contemporary focus on Manga and Anime style Art and the Graphic Novel, Picasso, and portraits realistic and distorted, Modigliani, Van Gogh, Matisse, and many other Artists who painted beautiful and fascinating portraits over the centuries.
Each week many of our young Artists bring in Artworks that they have completed in their own time at home. In class we enjoy sharing the students work. We have so many wonderfully creative students at our school. I am proud of the children and their beautiful work. It is wonderful to know parents and family members are providing the children with drawing materials and opportunities to be visually creative at home. Art is certainly relaxing and calming and helps us journey into our imagination and think through our creative ideas before putting them into 2D or 3D Artworks.
A quiet place, set up for children to go to and create in quiet times allows for spontaneous and restful creativity. In our busy lives, this benefits our children in many ways.
And.....Here are just a few pictures of some of the creative work completed in recent weeks.

...and a few examples of works in progress from Grades 1 to 6.

We all look forward to a creative term in the months ahead.
Best wishes,
