Our 2026 Swimming Carnival was a huge success. We are so proud of the way our students showed resilience, determination and sportsmanship. This was evident by the way in which our students supported each other, even when their friends were in last place. I spoke with some Grade 6 students who all agreed their favourite part was the afternoon novelty events, particularly tunnel ball and making a whirlpool. We know that swimming carnivals can sometimes cause heightened levels of stress in students. It was great to have fun events like this in which every student can participate and succeed.

We are committed to developing the leadership potential of our students which is why we have many opportunities for students to be leaders from Grades 4 to 6. Our Grade 4 students can become Little Dove Cafe Leaders, who help with Breakfast Club and assisting the Cafe staff during eating times. Our Grade 5 students have the opportunity to become Sports Leaders - responsible for facilitating activities in Morning Sport, looking after our school bikes and helping to manage our sports equipment. They also earn a John Paul II cap and whistle to help them with their duties. Every Grade 6 student now has a leadership role in 2026. The leadership roles include School Captains (4), House Captains (6 in Term 1 and 2, 6 in Term 3 & 4), and every student has nominated themselves to become a Mission Leader, Outreach Leader, Sustainability Leader or Student Support Leader. Grade 6 students received their badges at our whole school gathering this afternoon and will be commissioned along with our staff at our school assembly on Wednesday, 4th March.

We warmly invite all families to join us for our first school assembly of the year at 2:00pm on Wednesday, 4th March.

Our 2026 Annual Plan focuses on 4 key areas.

  • Liturgy
  • Student Wellbeing and Emotional Literacy
  • Embedding a school-wide approach to Numeracy
  • Community Engagement

Our first community event is Celebrating Women Day where students will be inviting some influential women in their lives to participate in an afternoon of activities. This will be held on March 13 at 1:45pm. More information to come.

Have a great weekend.
