LUNCHTIME ENTERTAINMENT || We had some Karaoke fun at lunchtime today—a great way to keep the music going during our ‘Arts Week’! Even Ms Chaves joined in!

YEAR 12 HIDE & SEEK || Our Year 12 students transformed the college into an adventure zone on Friday night, mastering the art of 'hide and seek' and enjoying a movie together. The college was buzzing and more great memories were made!

TREETOPS ADVENTURE || Our second group of Year 9 & 10 The Great Outdoors students had an awesome day at Treetops Adventure in Belgrave on Friday! They tackled exciting challenges, embraced new experiences and strengthened team bonds. A great way to finish the week!

CELEBRATING OUR STUDENT AUTHORS || The launch of our Creative Writing Journal, ‘Shoreline,’ on Friday was a fantastic celebration of our students' creativity and hard work. A big thank you to acclaimed writer Caz Goodwin for inspiring our young writers with her insights. Well done to everyone involved!

IT’S PRODUCTION WEEK! || We welcomed Beaumaris North Primary School for a special showing of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ today. The cast and crew can't wait to perform for you this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (7pm)! We are SOLD OUT!

CONNOR’S RUN || A huge shout-out to Phoebe M in Year 10 who has raised over $500 to help change the odds for kids facing brain cancer - the #1 cancer killer of young people. TUESDAY 10 SEPTEMBER 2024

MODEL UNITED NATIONS || Last Friday, our students stepped into the shoes of delegates representing various countries, this time at Dromana Secondary College. They worked hard to negotiate and collaborate on resolutions on the issue 'Asylum Seekers and Refugees: A Global Humanitarian Crisis.' They honed their skills in diplomacy and negotiation, gaining valuable real-life experience in global politics. Well done to all participants for their insightful discussions and teamwork!

YEAR 8 & 11 CONNECTION || Our Year 8 and Year 11 students came together during GOAL yesterday for an afternoon of fun and connection in support of R U OK Day. The event featured an exciting line-up of activities, including a tug of war and dodgeball, bringing everyone together in a spirit of teamwork and camaraderie. Conversation Bingo was another hit, which encouraged students to engage in meaningful dialogue, breaking the ice and sparking conversations about mental wellbeing.

FOOD COMPOSTING AT BSC || Our new FoodCycler, funded by the Curriculum Innovations Funds, is transforming our kitchen waste into fertiliser for our gardens! Our Business Management 1/2 students are busy creating a Marketing Campaign for the final product, which we hope to sell in the future. Stay tuned!

BSC MARKET DAY || Central Plaza was buzzing at lunchtime today as our first group of Year 9 Innovate students showcased their creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit! From yummy treats to various stalls and challenges, students from all year levels enjoyed the fun while learning all about different social enterprises. A fantastic event with all funds going to charities/non-profit chosen by the students!

R U OK DAY || Today is R U OK Day. A national day of action and a reminder to check in and ask, 'R U OK?', as a way to start a meaningful conversation with our students, colleagues, family and friends. Asking ‘R U OK?’ is the first step, and genuinely listening to what comes next and making a plan after that could help change a life. 

During lunchtime today, students joined our Wellbeing Team and Student Wellbeing Action Group (SWAG) to ‘ice their feelings’ onto cookies!

WHAT A SHOW!!! || We’re still buzzing from the fantastic opening night of our College Production, Alice in Wonderland! The cast and crew delivered an awesome performance, showcasing their incredible talent and hard work.

YEAR 8 BASKETBALL & HOCKEY CHAMPIONS || Congratulations to our Year 8 Boys Basketball team for their fantastic win in the Kingston Division Final today! They faced strong competition from Parkdale and Sandringham but played with great skill and determination.

 

Our Year 8 Boys/Mixed hockey team also clinched victory, remaining undefeated all day. Their dedication paid off as they emerged victorious against McKinnon with a 7-0 score!

 

Congratulations to all the players for their outstanding performance and sportsmanship. You made us proud!

VCE MEDIA, ARTS & DESIGN EXHIBITION – CELEBRATING ART & CREATIVITY || Join us for a spectacular showcase of talent at our MAD Exhibition on Thursday 10 October (6-8pm). We can't wait to share the incredible work created by our talented students and dedicated staff!

EMPOWERING OUR YEAR 7s || Our Year 7 students participated in the LifeChanger program today, engaging in interactive workshops focused on building emotional, social and resilience skills. Through the Five Pillars of Health, Skills, Self, Purpose and Tribe, they connected with peers, mentors and facilitators, learning about physical and mental health, mindfulness, goal setting, problem-solving, gratitude, self-awareness, resilience and connection.

FOOTY COLOURS DAY || What a great show of colour and friendly rivalry at the college today with a Staff vs Year 12 game at lunchtime – students won! Students and staff embraced the day with enthusiasm, all while raising money for the Fight Cancer Foundation.

YEAR 12 SILENT DISCO || Our Year 12s took their party vibes to the next level with an epic silent disco/end-of-term party during GOAL today! Tunes were pumping and the dance moves were on point! Huge shout-out to our GOAL Mentors for making it a GOAL session to remember! Only two GOAL sessions left for our Year 12 students… ☹

YEAR 8 & 11 END-OF-TERM GOAL CELEBRATION || Our Year 8s and 11s came together yesterday for a fun-filled end-of-term GOAL celebration. From mini house challenges such as the longest plank, quickest to eat a dry Weetbix and paper plane and card tower building, to a delicious pizza lunch, it was a day full of teamwork and laughter - a great way to end the term!

YEAR 9 & 10 JAPANESE BPS VISIT || Our Year 9 & 10 Japanese students visited Beaumaris Primary School today to teach Grade 3s the Japanese board game, Animal Shougi! A fun and engaging way to share language and culture with our younger community.

EXPLORING PREHISTORIC WONDERS || Today, our ‘DNA to Dinosaurs’ students explored prehistoric life and evolution through various exhibitions at the Melbourne Museum, including a fascinating Triceratops display and an IMAX documentary on 'Dinosaurs in Antarctica.'

BANDFEST 2024 || A great day of music-making yesterday as over 130 students from six south-eastern schools came together for an intensive workshop and recording session at Frankston High School! Conducted by the amazing Tracey Videon and Lindsey Ryan, our talented musicians connected and created beautiful music.

GOLDSTEIN YOUTH FORUM || Year 10 students Kaelen B and Ruby F had the opportunity to attend a Youth Forum in the Legislative Assembly Chamber of the Parliament of Victoria, hosted by Zoe Daniel. It was a unique opportunity for them to have their voices heard directly by their local Federal MP and for Ms Daniel to hear firsthand the issues and concerns that are important to them.

VCE MUSIC SHOWCASE || Last night, our talented VCE Music students performed the program that they will be presenting for their exams in October. Their impressive performances showcased both their passion and skill. A big thank you to all performers, guests and our dedicated instrumental music staff for making this evening a success!
