Engagement & Wellbeing

Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships:

Over the last few weeks, 1/2 Floyd have explored how people and families can be similar and different, learned about the importance of respecting diversity, identified what respectful behaviour looks and sounds like, and discussed the strengths that help us treat others with kindness and respect. This week, we learnt about the ways that people can be similar or different by playing a version of musical chairs called ‘The Anyone Who’ game. A student had to stand in the middle of the circle and say a statement starting with ‘anyone who…’ and the people who did, could move. We had examples such as ‘wears earrings’, ‘has a dog’, ‘has long hair’ and ‘has a brother’. It was a great way to remind us that it is a good thing that we are all different!

A few comments from the class:

Harrison- “If everyone was the same and thought the same it would be boring”

Elkie- “When you meet a new person you wouldn’t have any questions for them because they would be the same as you”

Eloise- “Life wouldn’t be very exciting:

Bob- “No one would have other ideas and everyone would have the same ideas”

This week, the students enjoyed taking part in our Chipnic to celebrate reaching Level 2 on our Whole School Gugu Rewards chart! A new addition to this year's Chipnic was the option of having gravy with their chips, which was a big hit with many of the students. A special thank you to Mr Lidgett for all of his behind-the-scenes organisation to make this reward possible.

EVENTS

Our school discos were a hit! Thank you to all who supported, danced, giggled and popped bubbles!

We raised $265.65 and had a whole bunch of fun!

Our SRC made a shortlist of 3 projects that they would like to concentrate their fundraising on. Every student in the school was then asked to vote for their favourite. The most popular choice will be the SRC's focus for 2026.

The project options were...
