Year 12 Camp

From Wednesday the 5th of February to Friday the 7th of February, the Year 12’s went to Newman College for our study camp. The first day consisted of us settling into our dorms, which was a new and exciting experience for most of us. After that, we visited the Oratory, where we had all our presentations carried out. The entire building had a classical element to it, and we were drawn by its beauty.
In the evening, we walked over to the Queen Victoria Market, where there was delicious foods, magnificent performances, live music, and stalls holding unique items. We especially enjoyed the potato swirls, and a frozen lime slushie, and saw many unique clothing items.
Once we returned to Newman, we hosted a Y2K themed disco. It was lively, and beautiful to see everyone all of us dancing the night away to our favourite songs.
All meals were provided for us, and the next day, after breakfast, we attended a range of lectures such as VCE English, how VTAC works, courses, and ATAR. Despite being overwhelmed with so much information, these lectures educated us on a range of different ways to prepare for year twelve. In the evening, we had a lecture on safe partying, which was emotional, moving and heartfelt, educating us on the importance of safe drinking and partying as we come closer to our legal ages.
Finally, on Friday, we visited Melbourne University. We began by attending a presentation on the array of courses and then broke into groups to have a thorough walkthrough of the university.
So much was learned at this camp, we all feel more prepared for what’s to come this year both in and outside of school. Thanks to all the staff who came along to camp. A special shout out to the FAMOUS Mr Shelly for organising this amazing experience for us all and putting up with us for 3 days LOL.
