HSC Swimming Carnival & Division Swimming Meet
On the 25th of February, Highvale held its whole school House Swimming Carnival, the first time in many years that the entire school came together for this much-anticipated event.
The carnival was a resounding success. Nearly 1000 students attended the day! The atmosphere was filled with excitement and enthusiasm, as students participated in a range of activities both in and out of the water. Competitive swim races showcased impressive talent and sportsmanship, while land-based games such as volleyball and tug-of-war provided opportunities for teamwork and friendly competition for those not as keen on the swimming events. The highlight for many was undoubtedly the waterslides, which proved very popular!
It was wonderful to see students across all year levels engaging with one another, supporting their peers, and embracing the spirit of the event. A huge thank you must go to all staff who were present and helped on a duty, especially our computer recorders and our staff and student helpers who cooked some wonderful snags on the BBQ.
39 swimmers from our swim carnival qualified for the Division swim competition, which was held just 5 days later at the Oakleigh Rec Centre. We had some simply outstanding results from this day, with the following students winning events and progressing to region which will occur on the 28th of March. Congratulations to the following students: Cathy C., Lachlan C., Shaya E., Mia F., Tao H., Isabella L., Aquila P-S., Riya S., Aby W., and Kenneth W.
Special acknowledgement must go to Tao H., who broke the Division record in both the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly. A phenomenal achievement Tao!
